The garden
Mount Elgon Hotel is located in the leafy suburbs of Mbale in very peaceful settings. Our garden is a natural extension of the surrounding area, with mature trees, a natural lawn gently sloping and, of course, a wonderful view over the Wanale, the eastern ridges of Mount Elgon. The garden is ideal for relaxation, little strolls and some soft sport activities. Our guests are seen playing badmington, exercising, reading or just contemplating. At night the magic of the garden comes alive with lights and soft music, and when the weather is mild, it is so romantic to have dinner under the trees.
The swimming pool
Unique in its settings, unique in its style. Although it is the last addiction to Mount Elgon Hotel, the swimming pool area just fits in perfectly with the garden and the original buildings, or better, it enhanced them. We used local stones for paving and for building some structures, we preserved all the trees, with the intent of recreating a whole natural spot. The eye can roam free over the plains streching in front of Mount Elgon, giving swimmers and sun bathers the impression of being totally immersed in the landscape. The swimming pools (one for grown ups, the other for children) are heated using solar power and the water is treated with oxygen instead of chlorine. The swimming pool is lined with recliners and chairs and the nearby bar caters for all the drinking and eating needs of the bathers. During opening hours, there is a lifeguard on duty, to make the experience totally safe even for young children. Access to the swimming pool is free of charge for our resident guests and has a nominal fee for the general public.
The minigolf
The one and only in the Country, Volcano Trail Adventure Minigolf is a 13 holes minigolf. Playing there means having great fun with your friends and family. The holes are set in a landscaped and very shady garden, so you will never have to play under the blazing sun. And the Minigolf bar is always there if you feel thirsty. If you play at night, the lights give a completely different perspective to the holes, and it is really worth a try. Minigolf is free of charge for our resident guests, while we charge a small fee for the general public.
